I Worship God When I Serve Him!

This Sunday we learned about Jesus being anointed by a sinful woman at a place called Bethany. She worshipped God by serving him with the best of what she had. We serve God as we take our abilities and serve others with a giving heart!

How are you able to serve God?

Could you sing or play a song to cheer someone's day?

Could you make a card or gift to encourage someone?

Could help someone clean or fix something that they are unable to clean or fix?

Be creative with the elaborate gifts God has given you to give back in worship!!!

memory verse: God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another." 1 Peter 4:10

Sadly...we didn't get our 50 cans returned but COACH HALL has agreed to extend our collection until next week!!!

I Worship God When I Love Others

We had a fun time this past week as we celebrated Valentine's Day at Church on the Rise! We learned that another way we worship God is when WE LOVE OTHERS.

There are 5 different Ways we love to be loved or love others:

1. Quality Time

2. Kind Words

3 Acts of Service
4. Gifts

5. Physical Touch

Whatever way it may be...SHOW others that you love them! God's Word asks us to do so and we are given a great example in Acts 3. Peter and John take TIME to show a lame man LOVE on the way to worship at the temple. The lame man asked for money. Peter said that they didn't have money but they could GIVE him healing through Jesus. Peter TOUCHED the lame man and grabbed him by the hand. The lame man stood and went jumping and leaping and PRAISING God.

Who can you show love to this week?

How can you show them love?

memory verse: This is the message you have heard from the beginning. You should love one another. 1 John 3:11

I Worship God When I Pray to Him

Sunday we talked about a man in the Old Testament named Elijah. Elijah worshipped God when Elijah prayed to Him. Elijah ran away and hid inside a cave because Queen Jezebel wanted him killed. Elijah was uncertain about life, discouraged because he thought he was the only worshipper of God and tired because he had been wandering in the wilderness for 40 days and nights. When Elijah poured his heart out to God, God answered the lonely, discouraged, tired man. God did not answer in the windstorm, or the earthquake or the fire...but God answered in a still small voice.
When we pray to God we are saying...
God you are are bigger than things that happen in life and I need you...We WORSHIP God!
We should pray to God in all situations for He knows all things and can do all things!
We worship God when we Pray to Him!
memory verse: Be still and know that I am God... Psalm 46:10

Finding our Strength in God

Pastor Richard's friend, Scott Hagan came for a visit this past weekend during our snow storm. He spoke Friday night and Sunday morning at Church on the Rise. I hope many of you were able to join me in listening to what he had to say. My favorite thing that Scott talked about was about finding strength in God after "winter seasons" as Daniel did in Daniel 10. Sometimes we are weak because God is emptying us of old strength to fill us with new strength to conquer the next season.
Do you need new strength?

Don't you want all that God has to give you to live your life boldly for Him?

I do.

When our spirit feels weak we must call out to Jesus.

Seek Him especially during these 21 Days of Fasting :

and see what God has for your life! We are depriving ourselves (the flesh) of something we enjoy -DRINK or as Pastor Larissa calls it POP- to fill ourselves (the spirit) with more of God! Let Him fill you up with all that He wants.

Have a glorious week!
