I Worship God When I Sing

Music has been around since the beginning of time. It has been said that it is the "expression of the soul". There are just certain times when there are no words to express our emotions or thoughts! God gave us music.
One of the amazing ways we worship God is through SONG!
The Israelites sang after God helped them cross the IMPOSSIBLE Red Sea and defeat the INCREDIBLE Egyptian army chasing them.
Mary sang with Elizabeth after receiving the GLORIOUS news that she was going to give birth to the SAVIOR OF THE WORLD!
The angels sang as they ANNOUNCED Jesus' birth to the shepherds.
Paul and Silas sang in a HORRIBLE prison cell.
Many people through the Bible and history have worshipped God through song. They have sang in happy times...sad times...alone times...group times...MANY TIMES!
This week practice singing to God as worship!
Go ahead and write down a few lyrics and put those lyrics to music! I know there are some song writers out there:) Bring them next Sunday and you can sing of the Lord to the GOkids!!! I can't wait to hear that!
Have a marvelous week and I will see you at 3 Days Ablaze!
Love,
Pastor Larissa

memory verse:"Let the godly sing for joy to the Lord; it is fitting for the pure to praise him." (NLT)Psalm 33:1

Only God is Worthy of My Worship

This past week we talked about a young ruler who had everything he could possibly EVER want. (Mark 10:17-22) He asked Jesus how he could go to heaven and experience eternal life. Jesus first reminded him of the 10 Commandments. The young man said that he had kept all of those since he was a little boy. Then Jesus said, "One thing you are missing. Go sell everything you own...give it to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven. Then follow me." Jesus was testing the young man to see what meant more to him in life.
Things and interests are not bad until they become more important to us than Jesus. The young man had his priorities mixed up. Jesus should always be first!
Jesus...then family...then church...then friends...then video games...ect.
This week ask God to help you get your priorities in line!!! Make a priority list and try to stick to it!
Sometimes it goes against what we want at first when we stick to our priorities...it is not always the easiest...but God has great rewards for those who put Him first. He gave us all we have in the first place!

Only God is worthy of my Worship!

memory verse: "All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen." (NLT) 1 Timothy 1:17

Haiti
When I was 15 my family started to work in the country of Haiti. My parents still partner with alot of work there and we have several loved ones in the country. I would like to share a few pictures of a couple of my dear ones.

John and Ruth Dieubon and their kids (from the orphanage) on the day of their wedding this past June.

January 13...last Wednesday...I recieved a phone call from my mom that said there had been a horrible earthquake in Haiti and many were dead but we didn't know any other information...We prayed. Later we found out there were several other earthquakes and areas affected. I think anyone who turned on the news was immediately alarmed and desired to help in some way.

We tried to get in touch with many of our loved ones there but we heard nothing...
I prayed Wednesday night before church..."God I know it seems impossible that out of all of the millions of people in Haiti that John could appear on t.v. butcould you just put him on the news so that we know he is ok?"
During church my mom called to tell me they saw John's rescue mobile (Project Papillon) on the news!!!

One by one we have heard from everyone of the pastors, missionaries and loved ones that we have worked with and heard how God kept them safe...
However there are many others who have gotten hurt or even died. The ones who are living do not have much food and water if any and have lost all of their possessions.
There are many places you can give to help the Haitians!
Here are a few places you can check out:

Fragrance of God

Sunday we talked about our lives being like a reed diffuser. Just as as reeds are placed in scented oils to add fragrance to a room God's presence living in our life like the oil and we become the reeds. The oil or God's presence soaks into us and comes out filling the world around us with a sweet and beautiful fragrance. That fragrance "smells" like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
People are attracted to the beautiful fragrance of Jesus living inside of us...however sometimes people allow horrible fragrances to come out of their life like bitterness, rudeness, selfishness, hatefulness and pride.

What does you life smell like?

Are you letting God's fragrance smell through you?

memory verse: Thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. 2 Corinthians 2:14

Don't forget to pray for CHINA and our missionaries Kim and Matt!
Pray that Kim and Matt can learn Cantonese and stay healthy and safe as they are the fragrance of God to the people of China.
Pray for the Chinese leaders.
Pray for the School for Blind and Deaf.
